Commercial trial in strawberries
To measure the effect of Great Land Plus on fruit production, a commercial strawberry trial was conducted at Gowinta Farms in the strawberry capital of Australia, the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
The trial was conducted on Driscoll’s strawberry variety Osceola, planted on two year old plastic mulch. Great Land Plus was applied through drip irrigation at establishment and every fortnight after for a total of 240 litres per hectare.
The Great Land Plus treated rows yielded the following results when compared to the untreated rows:
- average increase in fruit yield of 203g/plant
- increase in total yield of 9 tons per hectare
- improved soil tilth and structure
- less disease and mites
- larger, healthier plants.
Gowinta owner, Leonard Smith, said “…not only did the plants establish better, they grew faster and always had more flowers and fruit on than just the conventional treatment. This made the difference between a profit and break even”.
