Find out what else the farmers have been asking us about MYLO®.

Q: What is the shelf life of MYLO®?

A: Six months from the date of manufacture. See the label on your drum to find that date.

Q: What does MYLO® cost?

A: $250 plus GST for a 20L container, $2500 plus GST for a 200L container and $10,500 plus GST for a 1000L IBC.

Q: Where should I store MYLO® or Great Land Plus®?

A: Out of direct sunlight and in a cool place.

Q: How much MYLO® should I feed my calves – or cows – each day?

A: We recommend 10mL per head per day.

Q: Does MYLO® affect the development of the gut when we provide it to our calves?

A: Yes – and in a positive way. We have found in our studies the gut develops faster in calves that receive MYLO® as a supplement in their diet.

Q: Will feeding antibiotics to sick calves on the MYLO® supplement affect the number of good bacteria in its system?

A: There’s a lot of evidence (and much more investment) into probiotics in humans and the evidence points to beneficial bacteria, or probiotics, helping strengthen immune systems. The evidence we’re starting to see out of MYLO® is your calves get better development and the beneficial bacteria outcompetes the harmful bacteria and pathogens in calves’ guts. We always want beneficial bacteria to win for a healthier calf or cow.

Q: Can MYLO® affect the immune system in my animals?

A: Generally, evidence points to probiotics having a positive affect on the immune system by modulating responses in various ways.

Q: Should I stop feeding my calf MYLO® if my animal is sick and on antiobiotics?

A: If your vet has recommended your animal going on antibiotics, we recommend you take your vet’s advice. Terragen advocates for the responsible use of antibiotics and does not see a reason why you shouldn’t supplement your animals’ daily feed regime with MYLO® whilst using antibiotics responsibly.

Q: Is it recommended that I continue supplementing MYLO® to my calves after they have weaned?

A: Yes. MYLO® is for calves and cows.

Q: When should I start using MYLO® on my calves or cows?

A: Terragen recommends supplementing calves with MYLO® from the first day they are born. Farmers can continue to supplement their cows’ feed with MYLO® every day.

Q: Should you mix MYLO® with water?

A: No. Every farm is different and may have different standards of water. Water could hold bad bacteria, which when mixed with MYLO®, may not give the full benefits of the product. Mixing MYLO® with water adds too many risky variables so Terragen would not recommend mixing the feed supplement with water.

Q: What results am I going to notice with MYLO®?

A: Both our studies and farmers’ stories have shown MYLO® produces results. Our studies say MYLO® is proven to help calves wean earlier and gain weight. Meanwhile, farmers say their calves have a healthier, shinier coat when on the feed supplement.

Also, our studies show MYLO® helps cows:

– Increase milk productivity

– Reduce somatic cell count

– Maintain body condition, which may improve their ability to reproduce.

Q: Should we hold our milk for a few days to allow time for MYLO® to properly mix in?

A: We recommend adding MYLO® to fresh milk being fed to calves on a daily basis.

Q: How many times a day should I feed my calf MYLO®?

A: You can give MYLO® to calves either once or twice a day – as long as it’s 10mL per calf per day and it’s getting consumed.

Q: What is the colour of MYLO®?

A: MYLO® is a golden-brown colour.

Q: Can I pour MYLO® back into a drum after I’ve taken some from the drum, but haven’t used it all?

A: We recommend finishing using a drum or container before starting the next one.

Q: Is Terragen looking at new formulations for MYLO®?

A: Terragen is always looking at ways to improve its products for the benefit of farmers.

Q: Is there a withholding period for MYLO®?

A: No.
